Born in 1969 and a practising advocate since 1996, Luigi heads the firm. European Patent Attorney, Malta Council Member of the European Patent Institute (EPI) and of the European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA), overseas member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) in the United Kingdom, and a member of MARQUES, AIPPI, the International Trade Mark Association (INTA) and the Pharmaceutical Trade Marks Group (PTMG). Luigi is a member of the Anti-Counterfeiting committees of INTA (EU Division) and ECTA, as well as on the Professional Affairs committee of ECTA. Languages: English, Maltese, Italian and French.

Since 1996 Luigi has practised primarily in the field of intellectual property law, in which he has represented clients from all over the world with regard to the protection and enforcement of their rights. In this regard he has represented several world famous brand owners for the protection and enforcement of their intellectual property rights and, for the purpose, he has appeared before the Maltese lawcourts in a large number of lawsuits. Dr. Sansone regularly attends international IP conferences and seminars, and is particularly active in anticounterfeiting matters where he has often provided his contribution on various issues in this regard, most notably on the subject of counterfeit goods transiting the European Union. He is author of several publications and studies on intellectual property matters.

Luigi read law at the University of Buckingham in the United Kingdom and graduated LL.B. with Honours in 1990. He went on to graduate Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) from the University of Malta in 1995.

Author of the Malta chapters in “Community Trade Mark Regulation – A Commentary” (C.H. BECK . Hart . Nomos)”, “Community Design Regulation – A Commentary” (C.H. BECK . Hart . Nomos), and “The Art Collecting Legal Handbook” (Bruno Boesch and Massimo Sterpi).

Dr Sansone regularly speaks at various international conferences on the subject of trademark law, in particular with regard to the phenomenon of counterfeit goods which transit the European Union.
