North West firm Weightmans LLP has elected partners Dan Cutts and John Schorah as its new managing and senior partners, replacing Ian Evans and Patrick Gaul respectively.
Cutts and Schorah will take over on 1 May 2013. Evans, who has been senior partner since 2000, will retire from the firm after joining Weightmans as an articled clerk in 1973
Gaul is returning to fee-earning in the firm’s professional risk team after 10 years as managing partner, overseeing the firm’s growth from a £27.7m outfit to a firm turning over £77.1m.
Meanwhile
Schorah joined Weightmans in 2003 and is currently director of commercial services, overseeing the firm’s commercial strategy. He has past management experience, having been chief executive of computer company Rage before moving to Weightmans.
Cutts, an insurance lawyer, has sat on Weightmans’ board since 2002 and is the firm’s director of insurance.
Weightmans announced strong half-year results in November after mergers with Vizards Wyeth and Mace & Jones in the 2011/12 financial year.
