Lino Torgal has been appointed as the new managing partner for Sérvulo & Associados.
In 2005 Lino Torgal became a partner at Sérvulo & Associados and was then made a senior partner in 2008. He has been in charge of the firm’s international relations, as well as being responsible for co-managing the firm’s public law, projects and regulatory practice groups.
Torgal will replace employment specialist Pedro Furtado Martins, who took up the position in April 2011 following the firm-wide decision to switch to a single managing partner model. Furtado Martins replaced Rui Medeiros and Fernando Ferreira Pinto, who managed Sérvulo’s legacy firms Sérvulo Correia & Associados and Ferreira Pinto & Associados, respectively. The firms merged in November 2007.
Commenting on his appointment, Torgal said that he was “aware of the current serious difficulties Portugal is facing”, but also has “complete confidence in the outstanding quality of the Sérvulo team and in its ability to deal with the challenges presented by the national and international markets.”
In December 2011 Sérvulo signed a partnership agreement with Brazilian outfit Manesco Ramires Perez Azevedo Marques Sociedade de Advogado in a push to collaborate on a range of projects, particularly in the infrastructure sector.
