Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati has become the latest US firm to add Hong Kong law capability to its offerings.
The US firm has appointed Tan Khoon Jin as a new partner based in its Hong Kong office. Tan was formerly a managing director of an international investment bank in Hong Kong, where he was an execution banker on the China team and acted as one of the responsible officers for Hong Kong IPO execution.
Tan will help develop Wilson Sonsini’s Hong Kong law practice. This will operate through Chen & Associates, a local firm which is associated with Wilson Sonsini’s Hong Kong office.
The local association was established by partner Chen Zhan, who joined from Davis Polk & Wardwell in April 2012. Chen is primarily based in Shanghai but spends a considerable amount of time in Hong Kong.
“Hong Kong increasingly has become an attractive market for many global companies and financial sponsors when it comes to initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity transactions,” said Jack Sheridan, Wilson Sonsini’s co-managing partner, in a statement. “The addition of Hong Kong law capability is a logical extension of our China practice.”
