Litigation boutique in Bermuda hire new senior counsel

Published: Wednesday, March 13, 2013

Mark Cran QC to join Bermuda based Attride-Stirling & Woloniecki.

Mark Cran QC, a silk at Brick Court Chambers, is set to join Attride-Stirling & Woloniecki as a senior counsel. The Bermuda-based firm focuses on litigation and insurance. Cran will focus on court work not only in Bermuda, but across the Caribbean as well.

Cran will remain a door tenant at Brick Court. He was called to the bar in 1973 and became a silk in 1988. His practice focuses on commercial law, but he has also argued entertainment and sports cases.

Cran is the third silk to be tempted offshore in the last year. In early 2012 Appleby hired Serle Court’s Peter McMaster QC as a partner in its Cayman litigation team, while Ogier picked up 3 Stone Buildings’ Richard de Lacy QC as its head of Cayman litigation a year ago.

Attride-Stirling previously hired Essex Court Chambers silk Victor Lyon, also as senior counsel.

Jan Woloniecki, litigation head at the Bermudian firm, said Cran’s arrival would enhance Attride-Stirling’s advocacy capabilities.
