DLA Piper strengthens Hong Kong Finance practice

DLA Piper recently announced the appointment of Benjamin Sandstad to the Hong Kong office where he will join the Finance & Projects team, bringing with him expertise in structured finance, securitisation and debt capital markets transactions.

Ben joins from Mayer Brown where he has been a partner in the Banking & Finance practice for two years. Ben has practiced law in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Australia and has acted on domestic and international debt market transactions across a variety of jurisdictions, with a focus on acting for financial institutions and corporates on structured funding transactions driven by tax, regulatory and/or funding requirements.

Ben also advises on debt capital markets and has represented issuers on a range of RMB Bond transactions and various parties to structured bond issuances, ABCP programs and Islamic bond issuances. He has extensive experience in securitisation and derivatives, and has represented issuers, arrangers, swap providers and trustees in a range of securitisation transactions involving broad range of asset jurisdictions and asset classes, as well as end-users and market-makers in OTC derivatives transactions, with a focus on interest rates, currencies, credit and commodities.

Ben has been recognised in Chambers Global 2013 as 'having a growing reputation in the securitisation scene, and skilled in a range of debt issuances including Shariah compliant offerings' and in IFLR 2011 as having 'deep corporate finance, debt and securities related experience'.
