Construction specialist Alistair McLean is joining Brodies LLP as a Partner, bringing more than 25 years' experience - including work on many of the country's largest building projects - to the rapidly-expanding construction & engineering team of the biggest law firm in Scotland.
Alistair, who has worked for market-leading construction legal practices in Hong Kong and London, joins Brodies from Dundas & Wilson, where he was head of the non-contentious construction & engineering group. He will be based in Edinburgh.
A specialist in project procurement, drafting contracts and appointments and dispute avoidance and resolution, Alistair's expertise extends to complex construction, engineering, waste, waste to energy and renewables, as well as national and international PFI/PPP projects.
Qualified as a solicitor in Scotland, England & Wales and Hong-Kong, Alistair is listed as a leading individual in both the Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 independent legal directories. He is ranked as a Band 1 construction specialist in Chambers - a position he has held for many years - and commended in Legal 500 as "particularly valued for his creative thinking".
Alistair will join Brodies in the New Year as Head of Non-Contentious Construction, working closely with the wider construction and engineering teams. He will also use his considerable experience of property development, construction in the renewables sector and economic infrastructure projects to enhance the service provided by Brodies' property and projects, energy & infrastructure teams. His appointment will bring the number of Brodies partners, all based in Scotland, to 78.
