Three new judges have been appointed to the High Court.
Three new judges have been appointed to the High Court with their appointments due to start in October of this year. The three judges are Stephen Phillips QC of 3 Verulam Buildings, Geraldine Andrews QC of Essex Court Chambers, and Christopher Nugee QC of Wilberforce Chambers.
Andrews replaces Mr Justice Fulford in the Queen’s Bench Division. Phillips has also been appointed to the Queen’s Bench, replacing Mr Justice Christopher Clarke. Meanwhile Nugee replaces Mr Justice Vos in the Chancery Division.
Christopher Clarke, Fulford and Vos JJ were all elevated to the CoA in March this year. The raft of CoA appointments and other retirements this year has led to a number of High Court appointments, with barristers including Leveson Inquiry counsel Robert Jay QC and James Dingemans QC also recently elevated.
Andrews has been a member at Essex Court since 1983 and took silk in 2001. She specialises in commercial disputes and has sat as a deputy High Court judge since 2005.
Phillips was called to the bar in 1984 and took silk in 2002. Like Andrews, he sits as a deputy High Court judge. He focuses on commercial fraud.
Chancery specialist Nugee took silk in 1998, having been called in 1983, and became a deputy High Court judge in 2003.
