Debevoise & Plimpton LLP today announced Kevin Francis Lloyd has taken up his new role as a litigation partner resident in the firm’s London office. Mr Lloyd joins from Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, where he was a senior partner in the commercial litigation group.
Mr. Lloyd is a leading English solicitor, with broad-based complex commercial litigation experience across a full complement of industries and geographies, including financial services institutions and multinational corporations.
Mr. Lloyd has represented clients on a variety of multi-billion pound, high-profile litigations, including significant disputes against former directors and auditors of failed companies, as well as cross-border conflicts involving financial services institutions.
Mr Lloyd arrives at Debevoise following a period of considerable growth in the firm’s London litigation practice. Since the start of 2012, there have been twelve new associates hired to the team. Last month, the firm also announced Richard Lawton has joined the London litigation team from Herbert Smith Freehills as an international counsel.
Led by former Attorney General Lord Goldsmith QC, the team acts for an international client base, including leading multinationals, international organizations, sovereigns and non-governmental organizations.

Mr. Lloyd began his career at Herbert Smith, and then joined Mallesons Stephen Jaques in 1988, where he was named a partner in 1990. Mr. Lloyd rejoined Herbert Smith in 1999 as a partner and served on the firm’s Board from 2009 to 2012.
Mr. Lloyd currently serves as a Solicitor of The Senior Courts of England and Wales and Solicitor/Barrister of all courts in Australia. Mr. Lloyd holds an LL.B. from University College London, an LL.M. from Queens College Cambridge and taught in Company Law at Durham University.
