The Lawyer Network is delighted to announce that Claire Davies of 'Davies & Ingram' has joined the Lawyer Network. Claire has joined the Lawyer Network as our exclusive Family Law member in Jersey.
Having passed her English Bar exams in 1992 Claire was called to the Jersey Bar in 1997 and became an Associate of Mourant du Feu & Jeune before joining Backhurst Dorey & Crane in 2003. Having served as a partner of that firm since 2005 Claire, together with Lee Ingram, founded Davies & Ingram in 2012.
Having initially trained in the field of business and employment law Claire maintains her interest in civil and insurance litigation. However her main focus as a practitioner has become her work in family and children's law, and particularly complex cases which require a sensitive touch. Claire regularly appears in all Courts of the Island including the Jersey Court of Appeal.
Claire represents and advises private individuals, including children, and is regularly instructed by the Minister for Health & Social Services in proceedings under the Children (Jersey) Law 2002 concerning children.
Claire serves on the committee of the Jersey Family Law Association. She is also connected to the Jersey Institute of Law and is the Island's Adjunct Professor for family law, assisting with the academic training of those lawyers working towards qualification as a lawyer in Jersey.
Committed to public service in the Island, Claire has served as the Island's Acting Batonnier and was charged with the drafting of the Island's modern legal aid guidelines in 2005.
Claire was appointed the Deputy Chairman of the Jersey Employment Tribunal in June 2012 and sits in adjudication of employment disputes in the Island.
Claire and her team won a number of awards whilst with Backhurst Dorey & Crane and she looks forward to maintaining that success as she moves forward with her career. The Chambers Europe 2012 rankings noted her "sensible , practical approach. She really knows her stuff and knows when to push and when to step back".
