Graduated from Universidad de Buenos Aires, Facultad de Derecho, in 1988. In June-August, 1990 attended Georgetown University, where he took Introduction to the U.S. Legal System. In August 1990 went to Harvard University, Harvard Law School, where he graduated in June 1991, with an LL.M. degree (Master in Laws).
As for working experience, before studying in the United States he worked in Buenos Aires, at Klein & Mairal, from June 1989 to June 1990, as an associate. Once he completed his studies in the United States he worked as a summer associate in New York, at Sidley & Austin, from June to August 1991. He then went to London, U.K., to Slaughter and May, from March 1992 to October 1992, as visiting solicitor. He then returned to New York, at the Slaughter and May office in New York, from October 1992 to October 1993, as a visiting associate. From October 1993 to April 1994 he worked as a foreign associate at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, also in New York. Back in Buenos Aires, he worked at Negri, Teijeiro & Incera, from 1994 to 2000, as an associate. All these working experiences were in the Commercial/Financing/Capital Markets areas, including project finance, privatizations, mergers, purchase of companies or shareholdings in companies, bond or shares issues, loans, syndicated loans, with or without guarantees or collateral and other financing structures.
As for his specific experience in the criminal law area, he was involved in several criminal cases when dealing with the commercial aspects of those cases, starting as early as 1991, at Sidley & Austin. During 2001-2003 he worked at Pizarro Posse – García Santillán, a criminal law firm. In 2003 he founded Espina & Asociados, a law firm specialized on criminal matters, establishing a strategic partnership with Estudio Marcos Salt & Asociados, also a criminal law firm. Since then onwards he has continued working on criminal law matters, mainly those involving commercial, money exchange, companies law, financing, tax, customs and other areas of the law
