Markides, Markides & Co. L.L.C was established in December 2011. It is a lawyers’ company limited by shares with only one shareholder, the lawyers’ well known partnership of Markides, Markides & Co. The new company took over the business of the partnership of Markides, Markides & Co as a going concern from the 1st January 2012. Markides, Markides & Co is in effect a continuation of the law firm established in 1933 by Frixos Markides, who was considered to be a doyen of the legal profession of Cyprus. Amongst the Firm’s most active practice areas today are: Civil / Commercial Litigation, IP Law, Competition Law, Common Law, Money Tracing, Banking Law, Arbitration, Mergers and Acquisitions, and giving legal advice in respect of complicated matters both to clients of our own and to other lawyers, who often seek written advice from Mr. Alecos Markides. The same high level of professionalism is sought after and found by clients – individuals and corporations alike – across the aforesaid range of legal services.

Since 2005, Nicos Makrides is working in high profile cases concerning international fraud and constructive trust cases, international trust and fiduciary disputes. He is also engaged in other forms of domestic and international commercial disputes, including arbitration processes before various international commercial tribunals, both in Cyprus and abroad. Between 2013 and 2015, he has participated actively in a team of lawyers and international financial consultants concerning two recapitalisation processes of the one of the leading banking institutions of Cyprus. His main area of practice is international commercial litigation.

In September 2004, Nicos Makrides has joined Alecos Markides Law Firm as a trainee advocate.

In September 2005, he was admitted to the Cyprus Bar as a qualifies lawyer.

In 2011, he has become a Partner of the Law Firm Markides, Markides & Co., the business of which was taken in 2012 by Markides, Markides & Co LLC.

Nicos Makrides graduated in 2002 from the University of East Anglia (LLB).

In 2003 he obtained an LLM in International Commercial and Business Law from the University of East Anglia.

In 2011, he was appointed member of the Judicial Committee of the Cyprus Swimming Federation, a position he holds until today.

In 2012, he became lecturer and examiner for Civil Procedure of the Pupil Advocates, a position he holds until today.

In 2013, he was appointed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus member of the working group for Territorial Issues of the negotiation team for the resolution of the Cyprus Problem.

In 2014, he was appointed non-executive member of the board of directors of the Natural Gas Public Company, a position he held until the end of 2015.
