Andrew Dunlop is head of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) sector group and also of the outsourcing practice of Burges Salmon LLP, a leading UK law firm with global reach. Andrew acts for a broad range of clients including corporates, dotcoms, financial institutions and service providers. His work includes advising on outsourcings, joint ventures, software development, systems integration, technology solution builds, e-commerce regulation and data protection and privacy law. Andrew was the sole lawyer on the City Financial, Insurance and Assurance Working Group dealing with outsourcing issues for City of London financial institutions between 2005 and 2007. He was the international director of the National Outsourcing Association between 1998 and 2012. Andrew speaks regularly at conferences and for firm clients on outsourcing transactions.

The firm's TMT lawyers advise on big data, cloud hosting, cyber security projects, digitisation projects, content management systems, social media platforms and e-commerce regulation (the firm acts for example for one of the largest international data warehouse suppliers, one of the largest international social media operators and one of the largest international credit card suppliers). Our practice includes all types of outsourcing including desktop, infrastructure, business transformation, co-sourcing, multi-sourcing, facilities management and global sourcing arrangements. We advise on teaming agreements partnering and partnership agreements, strategic alliances and revenue sharing agreements, applying technology and process-driven solutions to supply chains, customer relationship management, infrastructure and e-business.

We operate a data protection helpdesk for the firm's clients covering both individual queries as well as audits, the preparation of policies, procedures and handbooks, international data transfers, impact assessments and the application of the European data protection regime to corporate, finance, commercial and corporate transactions.

The firm advises both in the UK and internationally on projects for clients around the world, with the firm's international client base including governments, listed corporations and global financial institutions.

2015 transactions include advising an international drinks corporation on its 2nd generation data centre outsourcing, an Italian vendor on its BPO for a UK clearing bank, a catering PLC on introducing new EPOS technologies across multiple client sites, an automotive PLC on outsourcing its worldwide communications requirements to Vodafone and a major utility company on outsourcing all of its UK IT infrastructure supporting water, sewerage and effluent services.

Andrew joined Burges Salmon LLP as a partner in 2001 from a US law firm where he had been a founding partner of its London office in 1998 following five years with Freshfields.
