João built his career at Cuatrecasas, as a member of the Public Law and Real Estate Departments. João also acted as a Member and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Economy of the XIX Portuguese Government and interned in the European Commission and in the European Parliament, in Brussels. At CCSL Advogados João is responsible for assisting clients on real estate, public law and regulatory matters.

João leads the firm’s real estate and public law practices combining both in his work. He is a full member of the Portuguese Bar Association and speaks fluent Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and Italian.

João is specialized in real estate and public law advising the firm’s clients – both institutional and private clients - on multiple related transactions. Considering his experience, João also advises clients with regulatory issues namely in particular sectors such as energy, environment and transportation.

The firm has a strong international background and keeps strong network of international partners, being particularly active in Portuguese speaking countries.

- Drafting contracts for construction, works, lease, sales with or without encumbrances, mortgages;

- Creating and changing horizontal property;

- Planning the eviction of leased buildings;

- Contracts for the use of buildings;

- Drafting, negotiating, reviewing and updating lease agreements

João holds a law degree from Católica University – Lisbon School of Law (2007), a Master in Public Procurement and Administrative Law from Católica University – Lisbon School of Law, a graduation on Administrative Procedure from University of Lisbon – School of Law and an LL.m in International Business Law from Católica University – Global School of Law.

João also holds a degree in Journalism from University of Coimbra – School of Letters and has attended the graduation course in Communication Law at University of Coimbra – School of Law.

João is responsible for the ProBono practice in CCSL. CCSL is founding member of the ProBono Alliance in Portugal and it is also an active member of ProBono Portugal.
