Lisandro Allende is a founding partner of A&F | Allende • Ferrante | Abogados firm and head of the Corporate Department. He has almost 35 years of legal professional practice in the corporate and business law fields. Prior to forming A&F, he was a senior partner at one of the largest firms of Argentina for 27 years.

He has a vast academic background in corporate law, commercial law and M&A, and he has got postgraduate degrees in both Argentina and abroad including an LLM degree at Suffolk University, Boston, USA.

Lisandro Allende is a former co-chair of the Latin American Regional Forum of the IBA and a member of international lawyers’ organizations. He also has a vast academic activity as a Law professor at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and the UCES University, both in Corporate law and in Business Law fields.

A&F’s comprehensive advice characterizes for anticipating situations that may constitute adverse contingencies for clients. As an integral approach, A&F gives preventive advice to avoid the triggering of dispute resolution mechanisms, including the involvement of the courts. The client is given advice on legal actions that would guarantee the full exercise and/or defense of its property rights. If the conflict arises, the Litigation & Arbitration Department seeks to reach agreements efficiently for our client. In this sense, all the members of the Litigation & Arbitration Department are knowledgeable about alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as mediation and, particularly, arbitration, in which they have broad experience both in providing advice and representing the parties as well as in acting as arbitrators.

Legal advice on the acquisition and divestiture of local companies by local or foreign investors, including due diligence reports, draft of contracts and general legal counsel for each particular business. Corporate advice to local companies in vast range of businesses owned mainly by foreign shareholders, including advice in all kinds of contracts of its day-to-day businesses.

A&F represents a wide variety of international clients who do business in Argentina and the region. A&F performs registration and reporting obligations due by foreign shareholders to the public administration agencies.

Frequently, A&F coordinates for its clients different offices throughout LatAm region through a network of prestigious firms in each of those places.

A&F is presently advising a client in the contractual relationship for the construction of the largest Hydro Plant in Argentina. A&F advised the client with regards to the bidding rules, the offer, the process of consultations, the finding of the local partners, and the signing of the contract. The project was led by a Binational Entity (Argentine Paraguayan). The amount of energy to be produced by the new one is approximately 10% of the existing one. This is a cross border matter and with a value of approximately USD 100 million

A few months after graduating as a lawyer I joined one of the most renowned Argentinian and international legal firm. In such a firm I was able to prove myself under pressure: it was the late ‘80s and early ‘90s where the world seemed to be speeding faster. I became a young partner very soon and traveled the world on business trips. Lots of deals in just a decade. Argentina was finally opening to the world. Great accumulation of varied experience for a then still young attorney. I got accustomed to working aiming at the highest possible standards, with people that I learn to lead with the passing of time. Since almost seven years ago, the same group that have worked together in a number of transactions decided to re shape the practice into a more personalized, tailor-made and hands-on service that has proven to achieve results.

Lisandro graduated as lawyer from University of Buenos Aires in 1986. He made a Master of Laws (LL.M.) U.S. and Global Business Law in the years 2006 – 2009. Lisandro completed the Business Companies Advise Specialist master in the University of Buenos Aires in 2010.

Lisandro is the author of over 100 articles in English and Spanish, as well as a lecturer, both in Argentina and abroad in connection with Business Law and Corporate Law. He is also the author of the book: “Funcionamiento del Directorio” (“The functioning of a board of directors”), Editorial Astrea (2010).
