Adelaide Benneh Prempeh is the Founder and Managing Partner of B & P Associates. As a dual qualified lawyer with a wealth of experience from Ghana and England & Wales, Adelaide has over the past 19 years, represented and advised a broad range of clients including Multinational Companies, Developers, Contractors and Engineers to navigate the legal and regulatory landscape of Ghana and the United Kingdom. Many of these projects have had a positive impact on national and regional developments across the respective countries. Her practice areas include International Family Law, Probate & Administration of Estates, Project Finance & Development, Energy & Natural Resources, Construction & Infrastructure, Investment Advisory, Corporate Governance and Regulatory Compliance. She has also advised a broad range of clients including Multinational Companies, Developers, Contractors and Engineers to navigate the legal and regulatory landscape of Ghana. Adelaide possesses great legal drafting skills, advocacy skills, communication skills and corporate transaction management skills. She is a Legal Consultant to the World Bank Group on Ghana’s Investment regime, an appointed Tutor at the Ghana School of Law and serves on the Editorial Committee of the Ghana School of Law Journal. She is also the elected Board Chair of the Ghana Netherlands Business and Culture Council and serves as Company Secretary on the Boards of a number of companies operating in Ghana. Adelaide has a wealth of experience in International Family Law. On a confidential basis, she has acted for and on behalf of clients as it relates to the Family Law regime in Ghana which include Surrogacy, Civil Union, Divorce Proceedings, Adoption, Custody, Abduction, Guardianship, Settlements, Domestic Abuse, Enforcement of Foreign Orders amongst others. Adelaide has at all times been able to protect her clients interests and present practicable and workable solutions to their issues. The B & P team has legal experts qualified in different jurisdictions to advise on variety of Domestic and International Family Law related matters. The Firm also has cogent experience in Administration of Estates, Probate and Wills. Adelaide has acted at different times and capacity as an Attorney, Executor and Administrator for small and large estates who have gained her trust due to her work ethic, diligence, professionalism and transparency.

Adelaide has represented a variety of families from diverse backgrounds, culture and jurisdiction, both locally and internationally. She also acts as local representative for foreign agencies seeking legal opinion or legal expertise to represent their Clients in respect of family related issues on behalf of their client. Some highlights of the Firm’s experience include: •International Adoption proceedings; •International Surrogacy between a foreign commissioning couple and Ghanaian surrogates; •Child Abduction and Criminal Investigation in Ghana; •Divorce proceedings; •Cross border custody, maintenance, placement of children within Ghana as well as specific issues pertaining to children of the household; •Mediation and Negotiation; •Enforcement of foreign orders in Ghana; •Alternative solutions pursuant to Ghanaian law, in respect of orders that are not enforceable in Ghana; •Immigration requirements for child placements within Ghana; •Obligations of parents and guardians in respect of residence and acquisition of citizenship; •Preparation and drafting of Wills; •Inheritance tax advice and planning; •Administration of estates (testate and intestate); and •Representation of executors and administrators.

Adelaide practised in the United Kingdom for eleven years prior to setting up B & P Associates in Ghana. Her Clients include individuals from Europe, Africa, North America and South America.

Adelaide is the Founder and Managing Partner of B & P Associates. Prior to setting up the firm, she worked with Renaissance Chambers, Gray’s Inn Chambers, London where she represented several Clients in respect of family related issues and also worked with Lovells (now Hogan Lovells), London.
