Harrison Clark’s new Licencing and Regulatory service is to be headed by Heath Thomas.
Partner Heath Thomas, who is based at Harrison Clark’s Worcester offices, has been chosen to head the firm’s new Licencing and Regulatory service team. Heath, who only recently joined the firm, will not only cover Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, but also further afield.
Heath specialises in Licensing and Gaming, and is a recognised expert in respect of applications under the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005 and associated legislation.
Recently credited in both the Legal 500 and Chambers UK guide to the legal profession, lawyers in Heath’s team are ‘very down-to-earth, client-focused and straight-talking’ and Heath is personally praised for being ‘good at working out the angles’ and ‘really quite brilliant’.
The team already acts for a number of national restaurants, bars, hotels, theatres, late night entertainment venues and retail operators, in addition to remote gambling and lottery operators. Heath's impressive range of clients include Frankie and Benny’s, Chiquitos, Birmingham REP, Liberty (London) and Aston Villa Football Club.
In addition to Licensing and Gaming, Heath has a growing regulatory law practice, helping clients achieve regulatory compliance, and, where necessary, acting in investigations and prosecutions in matters such as health and safety, fire safety, environmental protection and trading standards.
“I am delighted to be joining Harrison Clark and share in its commitment to excellence in service delivery,” he said.
“Many aspects of business are subject to increasing regulation, whether that is health and safety in the work place or licensing for regulated activities such as gambling, entertainment or the supply of alcohol.
“I look forward to using my experience to assist clients, both large and small, throughout the three counties, to understand and achieve regulatory compliance, and, where necessary resolve problems when they occur.”
Managing Partner at Harrison Clark, Rod Thomas said: "Licencing and gaming can be a complicated business that requires particular note to be taken of up-to-date documentation, and the requirement for correct and appropriate permissions.
“Being able to talk face-to-face with a personable legal expert who understands the practicalities of running such a venture can be a real asset to a business. Heath has a rosta of clients which includes household names to independent venues and we are delighted to have him on board.”
