Elected to the National Assembly in Mauritius in July 2005.
Member of the Steering Committee of the Inter Parliamentary Union on WTO matters from September 2005 to May 2010. (Geneva).
Represented Mauritius at the Parliamentary Conference on the WTO in Hong Kong in December 2005.
Panelist at the Parliamentary Conference on the WTO in Hong Kong on good practices of oversight by parliaments in the field of international trade, December 2005.

Presented a paper entitled “Lessons to be learnt from the history of multilateral trade negotiations under WTO auspices” at the Annual Parliamentary Conference on the WTO, December 2006. (Geneva).

Set up the National Tripartite Forum in Mauritius in order to enhance tripartism and social dialogue.
Brought new regulations under the Occupational Safety and Health Act with a view to bringing additional protection to workers.
2013
Brought about fundamental changes in the Employment Laws of the Republic of Mauritius.
2014
Launched the National Employment Policy of the Republic of Mauritius.
Brought a new job portal for the benefit of job seekers www.mauritiusjobs.mu
Spearheading changes to the Minimum Wage Fixing Mechanism in Mauritius.
Brought about fundamental changes in the way work permits for expatriate workers are applied for and delivered with an e work permit portal.
Successfully chaired mediation sessions in moments of national industrial relations crisis in various sectors.
